On the Occasion of World Food Safety Day.
As part of the ongoing collaboration between the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities — one of the centers operating under the umbrella of the Qatar Social Work Foundation — and the Food Safety Department at the Ministry of Public Health, a technical workshop was organized to raise awareness about the importance of food safety. This initiative comes as part of the activities celebrating World Food Safety Day, which is observed annually on June 7th.
The technical workshop was attended by Ms. Maryam Saif Al-Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Shafallah Center, and from the Ministry of Public Health, Ms. Wassan Abdullah Al-Baker, Director of the Food Safety Department at the Ministry.
The workshop aimed to promote the values of cooperation, creativity, and teamwork. Participants were divided into joint working groups composed of members from the Food Safety Department and affiliates of the Shafallah Center, with the objective of creating artistic panels that express the concepts of food safety and its role in protecting society.
The workshop featured a distinctive atmosphere of interaction and concluded with the production of ten (10) expressive panels reflecting the workshop’s theme.
In this context, an awareness session was also held for the staff of the Shafallah Center under the title "Food Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility," presented by Dr. Rami Al-Nuseirat from the Ministry of Public Health.
On this occasion, Ms. Maryam Saif Al-Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Shafallah Center, expressed her pleasure at the fruitful cooperation with the Food Safety Department at the Ministry of Public Health on World Food Safety Day. She stated that this collaboration comes as part of the Shafallah Center’s commitment to raising awareness about the importance of healthy and safe food, especially for persons with disabilities, to ensure they receive proper nutrition that supports their health and well-being.
The Executive Director of the Shafallah Center added that food safety is a fundamental pillar in achieving quality of life, emphasizing that through this cooperation, the Center aims to deliver awareness and training programs that seek to promote knowledge of safe food practices, both within the Center and in the wider community. She also stressed the importance of uniting the efforts of various institutions to ensure a healthy and safe food environment for all.
In this context, Al-Suwaidi said: "At the Shafallah Center, we believe that awareness and education are the keys to positive change, and we look forward to achieving tangible results through this initiative that serves the Center’s members with disabilities and enhances their quality of life.
In conclusion, the Executive Director of the Shafallah Center appreciated the efforts of the Food Safety Department at the Ministry of Public Health for their continued cooperation with the Shafallah Center.
