Students with moderate and severe intellectual or developmental dissabilities, aged six to twenty-one years, are catered for in this unit. The majority of these students are multiply disabled, often with concomitant physical impairments. To increase independence, teaching combined with assistive technology is centered upon activities of daily living such as self-care and basic communication. At the same time, socialization and leisure education are emphasized to increase quality of life.
