This department assures that evidence-based practices are in place and that the Shafallah Center plays a vital role in international special education. Research includes a broad spectrum of activities on a continuum beginning with single subject designs developed to benefit one student at a time all the way to scientific research reports which appear in peer reviewed journals. It further involves participation at international conferences sponsored by a wide-variety of professional organizations.

Professional development encompasses all staff and families. Staff receive ongoing professional development which assures their competence in current best practices. Other training assures that students, parents, siblings, and extended family members master those tools which provide individuals with special needs maximum independence in the home and community.
